The beginning of the odyssey. Matt Jardine, an English Karate black belt, leaves his wife and kids on an unknown journey to Japan that he is driven to complete. It is his own personal pilgrimage. It is a journey against the odds; time, distance, money, winter weather, family, loneliness. The Pilgrimage is an ancient journey to 88 temples spread around the island of Shikoku in Japan. Will he stay the course, and discover what it all means?
