Tony started training in the early 1980’s with his friend and fellow martial artist Geoff Thompson; He is a BCA level 1 instructor (graded by Geoff); BCA 3rd Dan (graded by Peter Consterdine); 1st Dan Shotokan Karateka (graded by Sensie Enoeda and a BJJ blue belt (graded by John B Will).
He has written articles for Martial Arts Illustrated, Shotokan Karate Magazine and several martial arts websites including; Geoff Thompson’s; Master Sken’s and Iain Abernethy’s. He has also written newsletters for other websites such as Totally Fitness.com. He has also reviewed several books for fellow martial artists –
Tony’s training in Shotokan Karate began in Coventry in 1983 under the direction of John Johnston. He also occasionally trained at Mick Jackson’s & Jeff Stansfield’s clubs. All these clubs were associated with the K.U.G.B (which was affiliated to the J.K.A.) It was during this time that he met and trained with his long standing friend Geoff Thompson.
He has traveled the world with his work as a consultant engineer working in the power, oil and gas industries. He is also an NLP practioner and incorporates a lot of philosophy into his coaching sessions. He currently coaches together with his martial arts partner Mark Collett at their Cheltenham based martial arts club (FFMA).
Fighting Fit Martial Arts (FFMA) is a mixed martial arts school. Their syllabus provides students with martial arts skills, practical self protection knowledge, fitness development and improved self confidence. The system uses numerous pad drills, sparring and a combination of fitness and strength exercises.
